In and around the Los Angeles area, 51 Bank of America locations are now accepting credit card applications from illegal immigrants. Applicants do not need a social security number or any credit history to be approved for this new credit card. Recently it has become more common for banks to approve illegal immigrants for checking accounts or even mortgage loans in some situations, but establishing a credit line for them is unprecedented.

I thought it was a bit premature to already be formulating who the new face of the GOP was and who would be the front runner for the Republicans in 2012, but I guess after the stunning electoral defeat we saw just a few weeks ago, it is never too early to start rebuilding your party's image.

Yes, the Obama election is historic, transformative, and epochal. But don't forget that this was the first election campaign that featured a woman running seriously for president, and another woman running for vice president. Sure, Sarah Palin was an attempt to try and keep white women from voting for Obama - a ploy that crashed and burned in the hills of western Pennsylvania - but it still seems fitting to celebrate some recent strong women's voices, raised here to serenade W.

Politics often make little sense to me.
Case in point: the 2008 election, though a monumental win for one of the most progressive presidents in the history of the country, also ushered in one of the most reactionary propositions ever suggested.
Of course, I'm talking about Proposition Eight, which amended the California state constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman only.

Students feel blindsided by CUNY's penalty charge for tuition payments by credit card.
